CREEDE AND MINERAL COUNTY
Communities: Creede
Winter, spring, summer, or fall, Mineral County's scenery is without parallel. With 96% public land, Mineral County has plenty of space for camping, fishing, hiking, hunting, biking, rafting, running, climbing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, sledding or wildlife watching. Elk, deer, moose, lynx--Mineral County has them all. When you visit Mineral County. you'll like what you find.
Creede, the county seat, is centered in one of the most fascinating geological regions in Colorado. Explore the remains of the ancient La Garita caldera, the weirdly eroded Wheeler Geologic Area, and the fossils of the Creede Formation. Visit the Underground Mining Museum for insight into Mineral County's silver mining heyday. Then drive the Bachelor Loop historic tour through old miles and camp sites.
Many shops, lodging establishments, restaurants and other businesses are open year-round. Contact the Chamber office (creede@my.amigo.net) for a Vacation Planner and Business and Services Directory.
